Dr Orlena takes a good hard look at what you need to do to get from where you are, to "healthy living is easy and fun".

Hello and welcome to Fit and Fabulous with me, Dr. Orlena Kerek. I hope that you are feeling fabulous and amazing today.
Today, I have a big question to ask you. Are you ready to step up and make changes starting now? To truly transform your life, to stop just listening to podcasts, to stop reading the books and to actually take action so that you can change your life.
Are you ready? If so, I've got really exciting things that I want to share with you but before I dive into exciting things, I want to talk a little bit about what it looks like to have a health coach specifically me.
So many people don't understand this concept of the work that a health coach does. A lot of people say, ‘Well, it's not a knowledge thing. I know what to do. It's just applying it’. And the answer is yes, of course. It isn't a knowledge gap. It is an action gap, a doing it gap.
It's like you read a recipe book and then you put it back on the shelf. You know what you ought to be making, but what are you making? It’s supposed to be the transformation.
If you've heard me talk before, I talk about the rickety bridge from where you are standing right now to do healthy living.
I want all the benefits. I want healthy living to be easy so I can lead a long and healthy life. I want to wake up with bucket loads of energy every single day and think I am lucky to be me. I feel on top of the world and I have a body that I'm proud of. I love my body and I love using my body and I get to be my best self every single day, because I am taking care of it.
Those are all the benefits and you can individualize those benefits. For a lot of people, it might be, I want to spend more time with my kids. I want to really enjoy my kids or my grandchildren, or I'm particularly worried about getting diabetes or whatever illness runs in your family.
I do healthy eating, healthy living, I get enough sleep and I've got a good mindset. I do all of these things because that's just my normal life. I'm not putting in effort to be healthy. I know the theory but how do I implement that in my life?
And so that is the work that I do with people. We apply it to your life and how to do it.
Let me explain that there's no magic cure. Think of the analogy of learning a language. When I came to Spain, I had to learn Spanish.
I used to listen to the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy on the radio. If you haven't read it or listen to it, they have this thing called a ‘bagel fish’ and they put it in your ear and suddenly you can understand any language in the universe. When I learned Spanish, it wasn't quite like that. I didn't just suddenly wake up and spoke Spanish.
There are different ways of learning a different language. I did this for a period of time and I don't think it's the best way to do it, but I just sat down and I learned words. I had a couple of books and I just sat down and learn those.
My children learn different languages. They're all learning French from this app called Duolingo, which is a fun app. They enjoy that time on the app and now they can speak French really well.
There's no magic cure. You have to do something in order to learn a language, but you can choose to do something that is fun and enjoyable like my kids did with Duolingo, or you can learn to do it the way I did it, which I don't necessarily recommend. And it's the same with healthy living.
You have to work out how in your life you can eat vegetables, you can provide healthy food, which obviously entails buying, preparing, cooking, eating.
You have to work out why you're not doing that. And the same goes for exercise, sleep, and your mindset.
Those are the four pillars. It's such an easy system when you step back and look at it but it's more difficult when you apply it to your life.
You can either do it the difficult way where you're struggling or you can do it, the fun and easy way. And that's what working with me is like, it's the fun and easy way.
What does it look like to work with me?
We look at the four pillars, healthy eating, healthy exercise, healthy sleep, and mindset. In my group program, we do it in four-week blocks. You start off doing healthy eating, and we're going to concentrate on that for four weeks.
Then we're going to concentrate on exercise for four weeks, and then we're going to concentrate on sleep for four weeks. Throughout the whole time you are learning these mindset tools.
The mindset piece starts from day one because it’s the bit that trips you up. When you set yourself a task, your mind is in charge. If you plan on eating vegetables then you find yourself not doing it, that’s just because your mind is playing tricks on you. That’s all and you just have to get over that.
What do those resources look like? They might look like recipes. They might look like handouts. They might look like chatting in the group program or in one-on-one sessions.
It’s about you having the tools that you need to walk your journey and understand that you are being taken care of and that you will get to where you want to get to.
One of the first things that's really important is understanding your objectives. If you sign up and think, I'm going to work with a health coach, specifically, Dr. Orlena in a year's time.
What is it that I want to have achieved? I want to have changed my relationship with food. I want to be able to create healthy food in an easy way, such that it's just on autopilot.
It’s different for different people, because some people. It depends where your starting point is.
During that journey, you still have to understand your mind. Your mind might say to you, ‘Oh my goodness, this is just about eating vegetables and doing more exercise. I knew this at the beginning. Why am I paying this money to do this?’
That is your mind playing tricks on you again. Your mind should be saying, ‘This is great. I can do it.’ That's something that you need to learn as you go through this journey.
I hope that gives you a clearer idea of the work that I do behind the scenes with my both one-on-one clients and my group clients. In the end, you come out with healthy habits, healthy eating, healthy exercise, healthy sleep routine, and a good mindset.
Once you've nailed the mindset bit, you suddenly realize that you can do whatever you set your mind to. You've learned how to apply it to healthy living, but you can also apply it to other things as well.
You might want to improve your relationship with your kids or your partner or your friends, or you might want to go and do something else that you've never done before. Suddenly, it becomes so much easier when you have those mindset tools.
I wanted to talk to you about an amazing special offer that I am just super excited about.
